FIRE CHIEF 101
This course answers frequently asked questions and provides important information a fire chief or a chief officer may find useful in their role as a chief. A fire chief typically encounters many problems concerning resources and other issues. Together, this course and the Fire Chief’s Handbook may be invaluable tools for your toolbox.

FIRE CHIEF 101 DISCUSSIONS
As part of this program, four two-hour discussion modules provide participants a forum to discuss concerns and ask questions. Topics include, but are not limited to, recruitment, retention, legal considerations, ethics, and roles and responsibilities. These modules address common issues and events in the forefront of today’s fire service.

NATIONAL FIRE ACADEMY - FREE FIRE CHIEF TRAINING COURSES
During the summer months, the S.C. Fire Academy is offering two free courses to the student or department:
Politics and the White Helmet— This 16 to 24-hour course introduces the fire chief or chief officer to local politics. The course provides pertinent information and includes three units: Politics 101, Leadership Essentials, and Creating the Future.
The New Fire Chief I— This 16-hour course introduces the topics of Responsibilities of the Fire Chief, Politics, Liability/Risk Management, and Toolbox/Resources to the new Chief Officer.
